FROM OUR STAFFING NOTE BOOK
A recent article in USAToday stated that approximately one quarter of the workforce could eventually be temps. If the economy continues its downturn early next year, these workers can be easily let go. But let us be positive! These could be your own employee's without the hassle of prescreening, interviewing, reviewing resumes, hiring, health insurance, Cobra, firing, unemployment hearings etc...etc. The cost of the employee is not just the salary or hourly wage...it is much higher than you think.

Many of you enjoy hearing the stories I have regarding job-seeker blunders. Hear are some of the latest:
- Email addresses like: acidhead@, Mybeeatch@
- facial tattoos like swastikas (YES), tear drops, wierd cryptic numbers or drawings.
- 3 minute rap song as a ring back on cell phone
- bad phone numbers and address 5 minutes after you left the office

Reduced human resource staff, and less staffing companies will contribute to more hiring decisions by employees that are not really qualified to interview. Staffing companies have been reducing staff or closing for the last 2 years. Have you spoke to your provider lately? Do they have the staff and technology to ramp up when the economy improves? Have they continued to pay workers comp insurance? Use drug screens and background checks? A staffing company is a valued vendor and should be up to date on how your business is performing.

I recently was on Fox 10 news commenting on a survey of business owners, that showed 15% of companies were going to be hiring more after the first part of the year. They also highlighted the large amount of healthcare jobs that are becoming available in Phoenix. I pointed out that most of our clients are still not hiring or selectively hiring. Healthcare jobs won't help "Joe Six-pack" who does not have a nursing degree. If we want more hiring, you need capital, and the small business owner still can't get a loan or is losing his/her financing. Until this changes, we will bounce around on the bottom. WE WANT TO WISH YOU HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
This year we are taking $300 and giving a needy family at my
wife's elementary school a great Christmas. I realize it is hard
to spare extra money this year but even a small amount helps.
Thanks for your business and confidence.
